Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope

Chronoscopy, i.e. the measurement of small intervals of time. This is the vocation of the new two-counter Speedmaster launched in 2021, which enriches the range with a new size: 43 mm rather than 44.25 for the other models.

The model pays homage to the Omega chronographs of the 1940s, thanks to a dial with leaf-shaped hands and three measurement scales that develop in the centre, until they intersect with the chronograph counters located at the indexes 3 and 9: these are the telemetric, pulsometric and productometric scales in base 1000, while the tachymeter scale is placed on the anodized aluminum bezel.

The measurement scales, already present in an Omega watch from 1941, philosophically belong to the Speedmaster, the ‘master of speed’; from pure tachymeter measurement to distance measurement (thanks to the rangefinder, which works as a function of the known speeds of two phenomena: light and sound), up to the frequency of the heartbeat, which we could call the speed of our heart.

The Speedmaster Chronoscope is powered by the Omega 9908 caliber (Master Chronometer certified, coaxial escapement, silicon hairspring, resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 Gauss), mechanical with manual winding and with a power reserve of 60 hours. The same movement is visible from the back side, which also offers the beautiful côtes de Genève decorations on the bridges.

It is available in two versions of the 43 mm case, made of steel or Bronze Gold. The steel variant is offered with three dial colors, silver, blue with contrasting silver counters (‘Panda’ dial), or silver with black counters and red details, while the one in Bronze Gold has an oxidized bronze dial with silver-plated counters .

Finally, the steel variant is available both with a leather strap (in blue, brown or black shades) or with a steel bracelet with a patented quick adjustment system. Water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 5 atmospheres.
