A Diver’s Watch with Style

The Longines Hydroconquest Collection

The Longines Hydroconquest ranks among the diver’s watches with the best quality to price ratio on the market today, especially for those looking for a traditional watch which is part of a world-renowned brand.

First introduced in 2007, the Hydroconquest collection reaches an excellent compromise between functionality and design.

The technical features of the high-end versions are impressive and can be compared to those of watches at a higher price level: water resistance up to 30 bars, thanks to the screw-down case back and crown; unidirectional rotating bezel with ceramic insert; scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with multilayer anti-reflective treatment on both sides; steel bracelet with double-safety folding clasp and integrated diving extension; and automatic movement with a power reserve of 72 hours.

From a more technical point of view, the calibre offers an important feature for precision: the anti-magnetic silicon spring, which protects the watch from any movement stoppage, ensuring greater long-term precision.

For around eight years, Longines has been introducing colourful models to the collection, first via a single contrasting bezel, then by matching dials and straps. The latest versions confirm the company's desire to offer as many variations as possible, but with a more stylish appeal than in the past. Therefore, in addition to the classic black, we also find gray, blue and khaki green, with a metal bracelet or rubber strap in the same shade as the dial and bezel.

The latest novelties are the two-tone models, in steel and yellow or pink PVD, to give the effect of steel/gold, without increasing the price. The case is 41 mm in diameter; perhaps not suitable for all wrist sizes, but well-proportioned with 11.9 mm thickness, which will not be obtrusive under a nice linen shirt. It will not be as easy to wear the watch with formal clothing.

However, the Hydroconquest was not really born for this. After all, we are talking about a sports timepiece that meets all the criteria of the ISO 6425 standard for diving watches. Finally, thanks to the large numerical and disc indexes filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova, this dial is very easy to read.
